Geographic Information Systems - is a Cloud-Based Geospatial Platform enabling individuals to create and share MAPS, APPS, and MAP Services.  It includes 200 Inquiry-Based Lesson Plans in grades 3-12 Math, Science, Social Science, English, Coding & Computer Science.

Global Geospatial Institute is utilizing a Place Based Community Grant to bring this Geographic Information Systems workshop to all East Baton Rouge School primarily focused on educators in 70802 zip code. The grant-based two-day workshop and follow-up classroom support is designed to train educators in cutting-edge technology for STEAM project-based learning to engage their students inside and outside the classroom. 

Educators will:

  • Learn to tap into your students' spatial reasoning to strengthen their problem-solving skills

  • Obtain lesson plans and exercises that enrich your current curriculum

  • Leave with new project-based teaching, cross curricula tools that have wide applications

Students will:

  • Learn to become active and engaged in their own learning

  • Develop spatial and geographical reasoning

  • Learn to identify and analyze issues impacting their local communities

Details:

  • Two days, Friday and Saturday, in December: December 13th and 14th.

  • Located at East Baton Rouge Parish Library - Main Library 7711 Goodwood Blvd Baton Rouge, LA 70806 

  • Stipends available for participants; $420 ($210 per day) Includes your registration fee.  Attendance for both days (morning and after sign-in required) to receive the stipend.

  • Space is limited; please reserve your spot as soon as possible by registering.

  • We will create a waitlist once the class has been filled.
