Hammond Summer 2020 (Dates TBD)


Maps and Apps for Teachers ~ is a GIS summer professional development workshop which will be held at Southeastern Louisiana University campus, on Lion Lane, Human Resources and North Campus Building (2-story building) located at Hammond, LA 70402.

Maps and Apps will be led by a professional GIS instructor and/or a certified teacher along with qualified staff who have prepared engaging days complete with educational and technology sessions.  

Maps and Apps begins at 8:00 am and ends at 3:30 pm.  Lunch and snacks will be provided. 

Participants will:

  • Experience flying a drone

  • Be provided with lesson plans and exercises that align with standards

  • Collect data outdoors using Collector for ArcGIS app

  • Map your own ideas using Story Maps

  • Cross Curricula with geospatial tools made simple, we promise

  • Find out about GIS Industry-Based Certification through Jump Start!

Travelling North on I-55: exit University/Wardline and travel east 1.6 miles on University, pass through Hwy 51/N. Morrison Blvd intersection, turn left on Lion Lane (maybe W Tornado Drive on some map versions), drive 200 ft to the parking lot for Human Resources and North Campus Main Building (2-story building). Take stairs upon entering the building and turn left at top of stairs. Rm 236 will be on your right. The elevator can be accessed from the first floor by turning left upon entering the building and following the hall around to the other side of the building. The elevator is next to the stairs.
